Dear Colleagues:

It is a great honor for me to invite you to the first LINK meeting of 2005, which will be held at the Faculty of Economics in the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), from May 16 to 20, 2005.

I would like to express my appreciation to the Project LINK Research Centre, to the United Nations and the University of Toronto for choosing our Faculty to host this event. I also want to thank to the authorities of UNAM and all the group of professors, government officials, students and professionals who allow this event to become a reality.

I am sure that the LINK meeting will contribute to improve the understanding of global economic problems and the dissemination of technical issues among LINK members and conference participants. This meeting constitutes not only an outstanding effort to promote the exchange of knowledge but also an ambitious project to create an atmosphere of optimism for a better future in the developing countries.
